I love summer! And one of the many reasons is the 4th of July! So I gathered 25+ Fourth of July Recipes with some of my friends and we are sharing them with you today.
Fireworks, great food, the gathering of friends and family and our tradition of spending the entire day at the pool make the best holiday of the year (well maybe tied with Christmas) is the Fourth of July.
Growing up this was also one of my most favorite days. My dad was in charge of the firework in our city and we had the best seat in the house to watch them. I was so proud every year watching my dad work on making a safe and amazing show. As I got older they outsourced the fireworks and he still was there helping and patrolling the park with his other fellow fireman.
At our City Park, we had food vendors, face painting, craft fair and live bands that played right up until the fireworks went off. We spent the majority of our early and late evening hanging at the park with our friends and family. During the day we were at our “neighborhood” pool where they had a pop dive, watermelon football and a cannon ball contest which my dad won 11 out of 14 years and the few years he didn’t win was because he was too busy at the park getting ready.
Because I have the best memories of the 4th of July, I, of course, try to make it that way for my kids. While the City Park has changed and now everything is downtown, pretty much we do the same thing. Go to the pool, barbecue and watch the fireworks.
