Aunt Dana’s Slow Cooker Spaghetti Sauce
My Aunt Dana’s Slow Cooker Spaghetti Sauce really is special. Simple ingredients and easy to make, yet so delicious and flavorful at the same time.
Servings: 12 -16
- 3 pounds Canino's Mild Italian Sausage this is worth ordering from Denver, CO http://www.caninosausage.com/
- 2-29 ounce cans tomato sauce
- 29 ounces crushed tomatoes
- 8 ounces tomato paste
- 8 ounces fresh mushrooms slicced
- 2-3 tablespoons dried parsley
- 2-3 tablespoons sweet fennel
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- salt just a dash
- 2-3 tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons pepper
- 3/4 cup white wine
Boil sausage for about 10-12 minutes, until slightly cooked to get most of the fat off.
Cut up into big chunks and place in the slow cooker. Add all of the other ingredients; turn crockpot on low and cook all day until ready to serve
This recipe feeds 12-16 people.
Note: The measurements above for the parsley, fennel, garlic, pepper, and white wine are all approximately. When my Aunt gave me the recipe there were no measurements and when I called her she said just do as much as you would like and that she never measured and it always turned out to taste the same. So I do the same thing so these are approximate measurements, based on my hand and eye. I will note that I do use about a 1/3 of a bottle of the sweet fennel (1.5oz. bottle), as I love sweet fennel!
