Chocolate Nutella Poke Cake is a delicious moist chocolate cake. This is an easy and simple recipe made with one of my favorite ingredients, Nutella.
1boxchocolate cake mixfollow box directions, but add extra cake ingredients below as well
1/2cupchocolate instant pudding
14ouncecan of sweetened condensed milk
8ouncecontainer Cool Whip or homemade whipped cream
*Optional: ½ cup Nutella
Preheat oven to 350 degrees, grease a 9x13 pan and set aside.
Prepare chocolate cake following the cake mix directions but add in 1 extra egg, additional 1/4 cup water, 1/2 cup instant chocolate pudding (dry mix) and 1/2 cup Nutella. Mix using a stand mixer or hand mixer for 5 minutes on medium speed.
Pour batter into prepared pan, bake following box directions.
Immediately remove from oven and poke holes in the cake, I used the end of my spatula.
In a small mixing bowl combine sweetened condensed milk and remaining 1/2 cup Nutella, stir until well combined. Pour over cake and using a knife spread evenly over holes. This will take a few minutes to make sure it is spread evenly. Immediately place in the refrigerator and let it chill up to an hour.
If you are looking to add some additional Nutella flavor, once the cake has chilled, spread Nutella over the top of the cake, the cake may come up a bit and not look so pretty but that’s okay, you will be topping it with whipped cream.
Right before serving top with Cool Whip or whipped cream.
For homemade whipped cream, beat 2 cups heavy cream, 4 tablespoons sugar, and 2 teaspoons vanilla in a mixing bowl until stiff peaks form.
Serve immediately or store in fridge covered until ready to serve. Enjoy!
