Ingredients

Pie Filling

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • cool whip optional topping

Crust

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 cups shortening
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup water
  • OR 1 pre-made pie crust

Instructions

Crust

  • Mix together flour and salt. Cut shortening into flour until it resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in egg. Slowly pour in water while mixing until the dough sticks together. Place in fridge for an hour, then roll out into a 12-inch disk. Spread in pie pan. You can also use a premade pie crust to make this easier.

Filling

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Melt the butter and chocolate together.
  • Add sugar, eggs, and vanilla, stir until well combined.
  • Bake in unbaked pie crust shell for 35 minutes. Chill in fridge until ready to serve. Top with cool whip or homemade whipped topping if you'd like. Enjoy!
