This homemade strawberry sauce is packed with fresh strawberry flavor. It’s a tasty topping for cheesecake, ice cream, and pancakes. You can also use it in cocktails or drizzle it over yogurt for a delicious breakfast.

It takes little effortโ€”that’s precisely what I love about this recipe. This sauce is a dream drizzled over vanilla, strawberry, or chocolate ice cream.

When you use fresh, ripe strawberries for homemade sauce, the result is more vibrant and flavorful than frozen or processed berries.

Plus, making your strawberry sauce lets you tweak the sweetness and consistency to your liking. You can use less sugar, skip the cornstarch, and mix in other fruits like lemons or oranges.

Ingredients

  • Fresh strawberries 6 cups, rinsed and quartered
  • Sugar
  • Cornstarch
  • Warm water

Optional

  • Orange zest
  • Orange juice

Sandra’s Tips for Strawberry Sauce

  • What is the best texture for strawberry sauce?
The ideal texture for this sauce comes down to personal taste. Some folks like it smooth and runny, while others enjoy a chunkier sauce with bits of fruit. You can tweak the amount of cornstarch or other thickening agents in the recipe to get the desired texture. You can also blend or puree the strawberries to your liking before adding them to the sauce. Try out different textures to see what you like best! Next time you whip up homemade strawberry sauce, don’t hesitate to mess around with the consistency and find what works for you.
  • How to store strawberry sauce?
This sauce can be stored in an airtight container or jar in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. It can also be frozen for extended storage and will keep well for up to 3 months. When frozen, the consistency of the sauce may become slightly thicker, but it can easily be thinned out when reheated.
  • Do you have to use orange juice in strawberry sauce? You can swap that out for lemon juice or eliminate the fruit juice.
