I love fall. And those of you who know me know I am pumpkin everything this time of year. Pumpkin spice, pumpkin bread, pumpkin seedsโฆ you name it. I bleed the orange and nutmeg right now.
I love all the festive themes in fall from goblins and ghosts to spiders, scarecrows and everything scary. So I decided to make a fun fall treat, getting ready for the end of the month.
I love Target, and this time of year they have aisles full of fall decorations, candies, and costumes. It was great that I was easily able to pick up all the ingredients for these Vampire Spider Cookies in one trip. I also picked up some Pumpkin Spice Latte M&M’Sยฎ, because, helloโฆ pumpkin! And they taste just like pumpkin spice.
I love that Mars Chocolate products are available exclusively at Target. The Pillsbury Halloween Sugar Cookie Mix makes a soft sugar cookie with decorative sprinkles, which my kids love. And conveniently the Pillsburyยฎ Halloween Funfetti Vanilla Frosting was right above it and the DOVEยฎ Chocolate eyeballs were next aisle over.
These Vampire Spider Monster Cookies were also so easy to make and all my little ones could help in the kitchen whipping these up. So while the cool crisp air moves in, as well as the spiders, make a batch of these Vampire Spider Cookies, and leave the fright to a bite.
I loved the fun fall flavor I cooked up. Check out more fun recipes using MARS chocolate candies and Pillsbury Halloween Sugar Cookie Mix here!
Enjoy! XOXO San
How do you make Vampire Spider Cookies?
Prepare cookies according to package directions. These cookies are so simple and easy to cook. Make sure not to eat the dough, you will need every bit to complete these adorable Vampire Spider Cookies.
While cookies are cooling, prepare the frosting by adding black coloring to the Pillsbury Halloween Funfetti Vanilla Frosting. Stir until smooth and frosting is the color you desire.
Add frosting to piping bag with a large star tip attached.
To make the Vampire Spider Cookies follow the directions below. If you have any questions be sure to check out the step by step pictures.
Lay 1 cookie bottom side up, start on the outside of the cookie and frosting using piping bag, finish off by swirling in the center, so that the center frosting is higher than the edges. This will allow the frosting to stay in the cookie and not come out.
Top the frosting with another cookie, bottom side down on the frosting. Be sure not to press too hard, you donโt want to force the frosting out of the spider cookie. Just gently lay the cookie down on top of the frosting.
Next place the eyeballs. On the bottom part of the chocolate eyeball, squeeze a small amount of frosting, place on top of the cookie sandwich, like pictured. Repeat with the remaining eyeball and place directly next to the first one placed.
Cut the licorice into 24 tiny triangles, place two of the triangles on the cookie sandwich like pictured. Directly below the eyeballs in the frosting, in between the cookies.
Next, make small stars on top of the cookie sandwich. Do this by lightly pressing a small amount of frosting onto the cookie. Once you have a star shape, lift the bag and repeat until the entire top of the spider is covered.
Sprinkle some Halloween sprinkles on top of the frosting, put as much of as little. I sprinkled about a ยฝ teaspoon.
Next, add the โlegsโ to the spider by cutting the black licorice into strips. Place 4 strips into the frosting in the center of the Vampire Spider Cookie.
Set the spider aside and repeat with remaining cookies, frosting, and eyeballs.
Let the spiders rest, for the frosting to harden a bit so that the eyeballs and legs stay in place.
Package and serve, or place on a treat plate for each kid and/or adult to grab their own.
