I completely became a bacon lover last year when I went on a #passthepork tour. I traveled to Iowa and visited the largest family owned farm, Brenneman family pig farm, and learned all about pig farming and the best, most incredible ways to prepare bacon. In fact, our dessert the first night inspired this Caramel Bacon Sauce. I can’t even exactly remember what the caramel sauce was drenched on that evening because the bacon caramel sauce was pure divinity.

How do you make Caramel Bacon Sauce?

In a medium skillet or sauce pan cook bacon over medium high heat until bacon is completely cooked and crunchy. Once the bacon is cooked, remove bacon from pan onto a plate lined with paper towel.

Leave the bacon grease in the pan and add butter, brown sugar, water, and salt. Place over medium-high heat and constantly stir until butter melts.

Once butter has melted, reduce heat to medium and bring to a rolling boil for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally so that it doesn’t overflow.

Chop the bacon up into very small pieces.

After caramel has boiled for 5 minutes, remove from heat and stir in heavy cream, bacon crumbles, and vanilla extract. Place back on heat and cook for another 1-2 minutes, constantly stirring. Remove from heat.

Let the caramel rest 10 minutes to thicken. Serve with anything, and enjoy!
