These easy cookie bars are a delicious treat full of M&M candies; great for parties, get-togethers and celebrations.

I love cookie bars. They’re easy to make, delicious, and always bring a smile to my face. But when it comes to M&M Bars, there’s no comparison – these are the best of the best!

These delectable treats are typically made by blending M&M candies with a cookie dough base mixture. You could also easily add M&M’s to my favorite Rice Krispie Treats for another easy recipe, and it requires no baking!

Recipe Variations

  • Add frosting! Make a homemade buttercream frosting and give these bars a delicious topper.
  • Add in chocolate chips! You can substitute half of the M&M’s for chocolate chips to make another simple variation of this recipe.
  • Make this holiday recipe by substituting it with seasonal M&M’s, like Christmas, Easter, or the 4th of July!

Baking Tips

  • M&M bars can be kept at room temperature in an airtight container for approximately three days. If refrigerated, they can last for about 5 days.
  • Avoid overcooking. Remove the bars from the oven when the top is just lightly golden. They might appear slightly underdone but will firm up as they cool.
  • Try using a 15×10″ pan for thinner bars instead of a 9×13″ pan. This will have a more cookie feel than a bar with a thinner profile.
  • Prepare your baking pan with a layer of parchment paper (or foil). This simple step facilitates effortless cleanup and ensures even cooking of your bars.

M&M Bars are the ultimate indulgent snack that no one can resist. Whether for a movie night, or just a snack, they're great to have on hand!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter salted, softened to room temp
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt kosher salt would work as well
  • 2 1/3 cups M&M candies divided

Instructions

  • Start by preheating the oven to 325°F. In a large bowl, using a mixer, cream together the butter and sugars for 1 minute. Next, add the eggs and vanilla, and mix until well combined.
  • Combine flour, baking soda, and salt, stirring the mixture until just combined. Gently fold in the chocolate chips and M&M's, reserving about 1/3 cup for topping.
  • Prepare a 9×13" pan by lining it with parchment paper or foil, leaving an overhang for easy removal. Give it a light spray of non-stick spray. Evenly distribute the cookie dough into the pan and press it down firmly. Finally, adorn the top with additional M&M's and chocolate chips.
  • Bake for 32-36 minutes, or until the top is barely golden brown. Allow to cool completely, then remove and cut into bars.
