Gooey marshmallows + crispy cereal = the ultimate no-bake treat!
Who doesn’t love Rice Krispie Treats? There’s something so comforting about this easy, no-bake dessert. Soft, slightly sticky, and perfectly sweet, Rice Kripsie Treats are not only easy to make but also bring back all the nostalgic flavors we remember from childhood. Whether you’re making them with the kids or just for a sweet snack, they’re always a crowd-pleaser!

This Noodles & Company copycat recipe was developed by my daughters, and now that they can make them at home, there’s no need to buy them premade—we just can’t get enough! With more time at home, they’ve been missing some of their favorite restaurant treats, and these chewy, sweet bars quickly became a family favorite.
I love to create copycat recipes like our favorite Starbucks chewy chocolate cookies and homemade Tagalongs. In this case, the girls get all the credit – since we’re sticking close to home these days Jordan and Jersey took it upon themselves to recreate their favorite treat.
My Favorite Kitchen Tools To Make This Recipe
From trusty pots and pans to handy gadgets, I’ve curated a list of products I use and love.
Watching them huddle in the kitchen, testing and perfecting the recipe, was such a joy. I’m proud to say they’ve nailed it—these Rice Krispie Treats taste just like the ones from Noodles & Company!
Here’s Jersey showing off the perfect bars—soft, slightly sticky, with just the right balance of butter and marshmallow.

What We Love about this Recipe
- You only need three ingredients to make them.
- Salted butter makes all the difference – that touch of salt is subtle, but it enhances the flavor of these bars.
- Instead of completely melting the marshmallows, we leave it a little lumpy. That creates pockets of ooey-gooeyness in the bars.
- With parental supervision, this is a recipe the kids can make themselves.
- The recipe makes a reasonable-sized batch, about nine dessert bars.
My heart was bursting when the girls finally settled on their final recipe after several weeks of experimenting and now they are so excited to share it with you.

How to Make the Best Rice Krispie Treats
What I love about this recipe is the simplicity. You only need three ingredients and they are ones kids can easily measure out themselves:
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 12 ounces marshmallows (either mini or regular ones will work)
Be sure to butter your 8×8″ baking pan with butter. This will ensure the bars don’t stick.
For this recipe, we prefer to melt the butter and marshmallows on the stove (some recipes use the microwave). That way, you can keep a close eye on the mixture.

Melt the marshmallows just until slightly lumpy—you don’t want them completely smooth. Those little lumps are what give the bars their irresistible gooey pulls.
Stir in the cereal quickly, coating it evenly before the marshmallow starts to set. Press the mixture into a prepared pan using a buttered spatula or a piece of wax paper to make it easier. Let the bars cool, then slice and enjoy!

If you can resist eating them all in one sitting (something our family finds hard to do) you can store them for later. Follow these tips so they stay fresh and delicious:
Leftover Tips

This recipe is made with love! The girls put in a lot of effort to perfect these Rice Krispie Treats, and now they’ve decided there’s no reason to ever buy them premade again – they’re that easy to make anytime. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

Notes

Even though there’s only three ingredients in Rice krispie treats I’ve never been able to get them right. I tried this recipe and they’re absolutely perfect. And my husband said he couldn’t tell the difference between my Rice krispie treats and noodles and companies. So thank you for this recipe that helped me make them right for the first time ever.
I am definitely gonna try this.
The receipe list earlier in article says specifically unsalted butter (even though the narrative says salted) just fyi so you can correct.
