I love breakfast; it’s one of my favorite meals of the day. A large part of the reason is that I love the combination of savory and sweet. I am one of those people – and so are 4 out of 5 of my kids – that top their pancakes with scrambled eggs and then douse them with pure maple syrup. And on occasion, actually, on almost every occasion, I will top my pile of pancakes and eggs with crumbled bacon and shredded cheddar cheese. YUM!
That is where the inspiration came for these Breakfast Roll-Ups. Really, it tastes like stuffed French toast. These Pepperidge Farm Pecan Caramel Sweet Rolls are a great option to bring it all together. Easy to find at your local Walmart, you can’t miss them.
What I love most about these Egg, Ham & Cheese Sweet & Savory Breakfast Roll-Ups is they are great on the go, making it a preferred hurried-breakfast option, and with feeding 12 kids in the morning (no joke), I need breakfast meals like these. Finish off this meal with some 100% Florida orange juice.
I love the Tropicana 8 ounce cartons as each kid gets their own, and they even come with their own straw (a great way to prevent spills and a very big deal to the kids). To dress this up a bit, make a little brown paper bag breakfast.
The kids will love it. Even if you are eating it at home, like we did, each kid will feel special having their very own brown bag. Be sure to include a little love note as it gets each kid off to a great start.
Enjoy! XOXO San
How do you make Egg, Ham & Cheese Sweet & Savory Breakfast Roll-Ups?
-
In a small skillet, cook meat thoroughly. Remove meat from skillet, and set aside in a small bowl.
-
In another small bowl, whisk together eggs and milk until fully combined. Using the same skillet, prepare and scramble eggs. Once completely cooked, remove skillet from heat. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
-
Open the package of Pepperidge Farm Pecan Caramel Sweet Rolls and remove one roll at a time.
-
On a lightly floured surface, roll out each roll until it’s flat and makes a circle about as wide as your hand with your fingers spread out – about 1/8 of an inch thick.
-
In the middle of the rolled out Pepperidge Farm Pecan Caramel Sweet Roll, top with 1 scrambled egg, about 2 tablespoons. Then top with diced ham and cheese. Roll up the sweet roll like pictured, and set on baking/cookie sheet.
-
Repeat process with remaining sweet rolls, egg, ham and cheese.
-
Place sheet in preheated oven and bake for 15-18 minutes or until a golden brown.
-
Once completely baked, pour caramel packet in a small bowl and heat for 30 seconds to 1 minute in microwave. Spread over each roll and top with chopped pecans. They are ready to serve!
