This recipe for Creamy Salsa Chicken is incredibly delicious and ready in under 30 minutes. It’s perfect for tacos, sandwiches, salads, served over rice, or anything else you can think of!

On busy weekday nights, I rely on simple recipes that include ingredients I always have on hand, like salsa.
Salsa gives so much flavor without a ton of work. Everything you’ll need is contained in that one jar. It makes weekday dinners just as simple as that. Add in a few other ingredients, including chicken and whatever else you have on hand, and viola, you have dinner.

If you enjoy my 4-Ingredient Slow Cooker Tacos, you’ll love this Creamy Salsa Chicken as well. It has the same flavor profile and uses about all the same ingredients, just the addition of the cream cheese makes it creamier. This skillet dinner will be ready in under 30 minutes.
How to make Creamy Salsa Chicken
Over medium-high heat, cook chicken in a large skillet with oil for 1-2 minutes.
Add taco seasoning, garlic powder, and onion powder; stir to coat the chicken. Continue cooking until the chicken is no longer pink in the center.

Add salsa and cream cheese to the skillet; bring to a light boil then reduce heat and stir until the cream cheese has completely melted and is incorporated. Cook for another 3-5 minutes over low heat, or until heated through and the chicken has a nice coating.

What kind of salsa should I use?
Any variety of store-bought salsa can be used for this recipe, but I recommend a medium restaurant-style salsa, as it works well with the creamy cheese and gives it a nice creamy texture.
Choose a saucy salsa over a fresh, uncooked salsa, like pico. A chipotle-flavored salsa would be great, as well, and give it some smokiness to the dish profile.
