Italian Herb Biscuits are spiced, light, flaky, and buttery biscuits. With Italian seasoning and Parmesan cheese, these can be the star of any meal.
I just love these Italian biscuits. Easy to make, so flaky, and loaded with Italian seasonings. They’re the best friend side dish for so many meals and they double as the best croutons, too.
Not only are these the best biscuits ever, but my son Madden who is the pickiest eater I have ever met ate two with his kale salad and loved every bite of it. I honestly can’t believe I just wrote that…Madden and kale in the same sentence.

Recipe Inspiration
I was recently at the gym, of course watching the Food Network as I ran on the treadmill, isn’t that an oxymoron? And I started watching a new show Southern at Heart. I absolutely love this show, my new favorite. Damaris Phillips is just a sweet as can be and her recipes are drool-worthy.
But what I loved about this episode is something she said that struck a chord with me. She said, “Take any of your favorite ingredients/seasonings and turn them into a biscuit”. And that is exactly what I did with these Italian biscuits.
We were having homemade Caesar salad with grilled chicken and I wanted something to go along with it that is when I came up with these biscuits. Not only were they amazing, they even made the best croutons ever! My kids ate these biscuits up.

Ingredients
- All-purpose flour
- Baking powder
- Italian seasoning
- Grated parmesan cheese
- Salt
- Sugar
- Chilled butter
- Milk
- Olive oil
- Italian seasoning
How do you make these Italian Herb Biscuits?
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium mixing bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning, sugar, salt, and Parmesan cheese if you are using.

Using a pastry blender, your hands, or a knife and fork, cut in the 6 tablespoons of butter until the flour resembles coarse crumbs.

Add the milk and stir with a fork until the mixture comes together. On a lightly floured surface pull out the dough and knead until it is smooth.

Roll out dough until it is 1 inch thick. Cut out dough using a 3 inch biscuit butter, or you can cut into squares. With remaining dough, reform and roll out to 1 inch and repeat until all the dough is used and made into biscuits.

Arrange biscuit dough on prepared baking sheet. Combine the remaining 1 tablespoon of Italian seasoning with olive oil, then brush the olive oil on top of each biscuit, generously coating.

Place in the oven and bake for 15-18 minutes, or until risen and a golden brown.
Serve immediately, or set on counter or serving dish until ready to serve.

Serving Tips
We love these buttery, flaky Italian biscuits with soups and salads, they’re also wonderful for breakfast. Here are some dishes to pair them with:
- Dunk them in tomato basil soup or Tuscan tortellini soup.
- The are perfect alongside a salad like chopped caprese salad, copycat Carraba’s chopped salad, and our favorite kale Caesar salad.
Turn Them Into Croutons
Leftover biscuits made the best salad croutons and these Italian biscuits are no different.
Cut them into bite-sized pieces and use your air fryer to toast them or toast them in the oven until they’re crunchy.

Out of the 15 biscuits, there were only 3 left and only because I stopped them. My daughter, Jojo said they tasted like her favorite restaurant’s breadstick and pizza. She actually split hers in half then sprinkled cheese on and heated them until the cheese was melted. This was oh so good! My husband followed doing the same thing.

I know without a doubt these will be in our near future, like maybe tonight!
I can’t wait for you to try these Italian Herb Biscuits, you and your family will love them!
Enjoy! XOXO San

Those biscuits look PERFECT, Sandra! Like, I haven’t seen a better looking biscuit before – not a homemade one! So fluffy and rich, and I love the combination of spices on top. Perfect for your chicken Caesar salads!
This recipe was a great alternative for biscuits and gravy. I made a white pepper gravy with some crumbled Italian sausage and peas. Topped the biscuits with powdered garlic. Rolled into a circle and cut into triangles. It was delicious.
