Cinnamon Streusel Coffee Cake is a light and fluffy golden cake topped with a classic cinnamon and brown sugar streusel topping.

This coffee cake recipe has been in my family for years. It was made by Shelia, one of my mom’s best friends. Since then, we have added several twists to this delicious recipe.

I have to say that this version of Cinnamon Streusel Coffee Cake is by far my favorite. Made with a few simple ingredients, it should be part of your weekend morning routine.

There is one thing, though, that we all love: coffee cake. It has been a staple in our home and family since childhood. Every once in a while, I get the nerve to add a twist or two to this recipe and try something new. This time, it was streusel topping, thanks to the suggestion from my friend Allison, who made it first!

Light, fluffy, and moist, this coffee cake I thought couldn’t be better, but add a cinnamon streusel and a light dusting of powdered sugar, and you have the best pastry to start off your day with.

Does a coffee cake have coffee in it?

  • Unlike what the name might suggest to some, coffee cake does not contain coffee. The term is often used for any cake that accompanies drinking coffee. The coffee cake has a delectable crumb texture with excess streusel. Bring on the sugary topping, like the recipe I am sharing.
  • How should coffee cake be stored? This coffee cake is deliciously moist and tender and stays soft for days. For best results and flavor, store in an airtight container at room temperature and enjoy within 3 days.
