Whether you’re looking for an easy weeknight dinner or need to feed a crowd, this Ravioli Lasagna is perfect!

Using just a few ingredients, it comes together quickly and easily.

This Ravioli Lasagna was inspired by none other than a trip to Costco. Let’s be real: dinner time can be challenging, especially during the school year. Costco makes dinner so much easier with their premade delicious dinners, like Ravioli Lasagna and Mongolian Beef, our favorites.

With the ravioli casserole, one pan is not enough to feed our family of 7, so I always have to get two, and there are never leftovers. I realized this recipe has only a few base ingredients, like ravioli, cheese, ricotta, and pasta sauce. I knew I could punch this out in a few minutes and then just let it bake.

This incredible dish allows you to combine some of the greatest tastes in Italian cooking into one deliciously easy dinner or meal!

What Ingredients do you need for Ravioli Lasagna?

While you could make this recipe with 4 ingredients and make this just a cheesy lasagna, I have decided to amp it up a little, adding some Italian sausage, onion, and garlic.

Here is everything you need to get started:

  • Italian Sausage – you could also use ground hamburger, but I love the flavor of Italian sausage.
  • Onionโ€”I prefer yellow onion; it doesn’t overpower the dish but adds to the flavor. You could easily use any onion you have on hand, including shallots.
  • Garlic – I mean, do I need to explain this any further?
  • Refrigerated cheese ravioliโ€”You could use any ravioli. I like the cheese one because it has a solid base. What I love about this recipe is that you do not need to cook the ravioli before! This is a time-saver tip!
  • Pasta sauceโ€”Our favorite jarred sauce is Rao, which has incredible flavors and tastes homemade. If you want homemade sauce, you can grab a recipe here.
  • Mozzarella cheese – I love this finely shredded. It melts better, but if you have time to shred your cheese from the block, it melts prettier and tastes fresh.
  • Low-fat ricotta cheeseโ€”You could also use full-fat ricotta if you are watching the waste-line sub for small curd cottage cheese.

Do you have to boil refrigerated ravioli before baking?

  • No, you don’t have to! You don’t need to adjust the baking time for this recipe to avoid boiling the pasta. If you decide to boil the pasta beforehand, you can shave off 5-10 minutes of the cooking time, but skip the cooking step and start assembling your dish.

How to Make Ravioli Lasagna

Once your meat is cooked, this simple lasagna takes a few minutes to assemble. If you leave out this meat, this meal will only take 5-10 minutes to assemble.

The key to this lasagna is all the layers. You really can’t mess this up.

The simplicity and convenience of using pre-made ravioli make ravioli lasagna a quick and easy dish to prepare, perfect for busy weeknights or when you want a satisfying meal without spending too much time in the kitchen.

Just like the classic lasagna, ravioli lasagna stacks up with layers of cooked ravioli, sauce, cheese, and whatever extras you like, such as veggies or meats. Normally, making traditional lasagna means you have to deal with noodles, sauce, and fillings all separately. With ravioli lasagna, you get to skip a few steps by using pre-made ravioli, making the whole process a breeze.

Since ravioli comes pre-stuffed and ready, it cooks up quicker than those traditional lasagna noodles you gotta boil first. Ravioli lasagnaโ€™s pretty cool like that. You can mix it up with cheese, meat, or spinach-filled ravioli, pick your sauce, and tweak the fillings and toppings to hit the spot for different tastes and diets.

I’m thrilled with how this turned out! The ravioli were perfectly tender, and the cheese inside melts during baking, creating a wonderfully creamy texture. This is definitely going on our weekly rotation!!
