Ingredients
- Brown sugar
- White sugar
- Softened butter
- Eggs
- Vanilla
- Honey
- Peanut butter
- Baking soda
- Rolled oats & Quick Oats
- Flour
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips
- M&M’s

Recipe tips for baking cookies
- A great tip for these cookies: if you prefer M&M’s over chocolate chips, double the amount of M&M candies for an extra treat. Kids love it this way!
- Be sure to use a combination of rolled oats and quick oats. If you don’t have both on hand you can easily swap them out for each other.
- Creamy peanut butter is the go-to choice, but you can opt for chunky if you prefer a varied texture.

Just finished making 2 batches for our soccer team dinner tomorrow night and my husband and our exchange student have demolished at least 6 cookies each. This is a keeper recipe for us. Thanks for sharing!
Love this recipe!! Real Monster cookies do NOT have flour. These are perfect and exactly right!!!
I had the same issues with my batch of cookies as Jere. The cookies turned out crispy on the bottom and edges while doughy on the top. I even tried rotating the pans in the oven midway through the baking time and reducing the baking time. I will be deleting this recipe from my board.
Lady, you’ve awoken an anger inside me I didn’t know existed. I followed your recipe to a T and now I have flat, crusty “cookies” that have ruined my brand new cookie sheet. Upon viewing your video (after baking) you don’t even follow your own directions! This probably needs flour. Or an exorcist. Or both.

The recipe was vague in a couple thingd including size of cookie to make. Finding have cookie dough scoops and there are different sizes. I did a little more than tbsp and baked 11 min and they are perfect. Her bake time was too long and minivan runs hot. Also parchment paper helps keep pans clean and when it goes badly it is easy to clean up. Hope this helps!
I agree with you 100%!!!!
I have been making these cookies for years for my kids and they are scrumptious every single time I make them, no complaints in the bunch! I don’t know what some of you are doing wrong but there IS and NEVER HAS BEEN any flour in this cookie recipe as long as I’ve been making them!! I’d say……look at different Cookie Monster recipes and notice the likes and the differences and try again, you had to have done something wrong or left something out! Good Luck!
Here is that original recipe you loved so much!

Does it have to be butter? Can it be margerine for allergies?
What would you think of adding coconut?
You can try whatever you like, but it will change the taste of the original monster cookies though! JS! But I’d say…….give it a try, can’t hurt!
Can u freeze the dough?
I freeze the cookies – I haven’t tried it with the dough. San
I agree the dough is delish. However, the baked cookies were burnt on the bottom with the recommended 12 minutes. I had to go down to 8 minutes. I also had to chill the dough before scooping as none of the M&Ms or chocolate chips would mix into the dough. I followed the recipe to a T so I won’t be making it again. Still on the search for the perfect monster cookie recipe!
Glad you liked the dough, sorry the cookie part didn’t meet your expectations. They are still our favorite. If you try again then chill and bake for reduced time. San
Flat, burnt, but not altogether horrible. They were still edible, however, they were called vomit cookies at our home. So which is it? 1 1/2cups butter and 1/2 cup peanut butter, or 1 1/2 cups peanut butter and 1/2 cup butter? My wife would say I was a bit ticked at the discrepancy!! Good thing 5yr olds are easy to please!!
Sorry we switched recipe cards this week on the my site and not sure how that switched, but it is 1/2 cup butter and 1 1/2 cups of peanut butter – hope this helps next time.
This recipe worked great for me.
Woah….
Nailed it!! Thank you!! They’re perfect
I believe there is a typo in your recipe. The online version says 1 1/2 cups butter and 1/2 peanut butter. BUT if you select print recipe, you will find those measurements to be switched. Which is the correct way to bake these cookies?
We made the change, I switched recipe cards this week on the site and those two got swapped. 🙂
Ummm, I really want to try this recipe but is the nutrition label correct??? That’s a lot of calories for one cookie
Yes it is pretty accurate. They are definitely a once in a while special treat, enjoy!
The directions say to beat the eggs then add the rest of the ingredients? Do you not cream the butter and sugar first? The directions seem counter intuitive…
Now that is a tasty looking cookie! They have all of my favorite cookie ingredients all rolled into one!
Thanks, I hope you like these!
I can see how it’s easy to lose track of how many you ate! They look dangerously delicious!
Definitely! I hope you enjoy!
Monster cookies are my faaaave! I hope I have all the ingredients so I can make these tonight!
That would be awesome, hope you enjoy!
Monster cookies are the best! I cannot wait to try yours!
Thanks, enjoy!
I am going to have to double the batch on these cookies! I am loving everything about them.
They definitely are addictive, enjoy!
Awesome recipe! I made these monster cookies for the kids and they loved them!
I’m so glad they enjoyed making and eating them, thanks!
Omg, these cookies are amazing! Maybe the best cookie I have ever eaten in my entire life lol…but hey, I am a peanut butter, oats, and m&m lover. Mine baked for about 11 mins and turned out perfectly! I also used natural on and that worked well.
