A perfect combination of sweet and salty, this Witches Brew Kettle Corn Snack Mix is fun, easy to throw together, and perfect for any Halloween party.
This recipe for Witches Brew Kettle Corn Snack Mix is super fun and easy to throw together. If you need a snack idea or some class treats for the upcoming Halloween class party, then this is it. It has the perfect balance of sweet and salty. With the dash of cinnamon in the popcorn, the salt in the peanuts and mixed with the candy corn, it just all comes together.
What’s fun with this is that is easy to add things to it, like M&Ms, pretzels, or Reese’s Pieces. This combination just happens to be my kids’ favorite Halloween mix. The first time I made it, I asked them what we should call it and Aiden, my 11-year-old, said, โSomething witchyโ. When I asked him why, he said, โMom, the chocolate covered peanuts look like little witches hatsโ. I would have never thought that, but now looking at them, I guess they do.
I never was a really big candy corn fan until my mom made her classic fall mix of peanuts and candy corn, then I just fell in love. This has since become a yearly tradition and the inspiration for our own Witches Brew Kettle Corn Snack Mix. I just mixed this up with my own kettle corn recipe, and voila, here you have it!
Enjoy some of this snack mix, this fall season and serve it up at your next Halloween party, your little โmonstersโ wonโt be disappointed.
XOXO San
How do you make Witches Brew Kettle Corn Snack Mix?
Chocolate Covered Peanuts
-
On your work surface, lay down about 1-2 feet of wax paper and spread out the 2 cups of peanuts.
-
Melt chocolate following package directions, the drizzle over peanuts. You can cover them completely or you can just drizzle the chocolate. We like fully coated. Wait for chocolate to harden then break up peanuts that are stuck together, add the peanuts and the candy corn to a large bowl, set aside.
-
Make kettle corn, I have two different ways you can do this. I prefer the method of using a Stir Crazy popcorn machine, as it is super easy and makes less mess. I have included the directions below for both methods.
-
*For large parties, I double the kettle corn recipe and keep everything else the same, it helps it go a little bit further.
-
Plug-in the Stir Crazy
-
Pour in the oil and add popcorn
-
In a small bowl, stir together sugar and cinnamon.
-
Wait for a minute or two then add the sugar evenly over the popcorn kernels
-
Place lid on the Stir Crazy and wait for all kernels to be popped.
-
Unplug and turn over stir crazy โ add salt to taste.
-
Once kettle corn has cooled, add to the large bowl with the candy corn and peanuts.
-
Pour the oil and corn kernels in a large pot over med-high heat (make sure you use one that has a tight fitting lid).
-
Place the lid on top of the pot and mix it around a few times directly on burner.
-
In a small bowl stir together sugar and cinnamon, then add sugar directly on top of the corn kernels.
-
Replace lid and shake the pot in circular motion on the burner, until you hear the kernels start to pop.
-
Continue to shake in a circular motion while the kernels are popping until they are all completely popped. Remove from heat, add salt to taste. I like to pour the kettle corn on the counter to cool, with this method, so it doesnโt stick to the pan.
-
Once kettle corn has cooled, add to the large bowl with the candy corn and peanuts.
