I love strawberries – in anything and everything. Salad, ice cream, cake, and cheesecake just to name a few. There are only two things that I don’t like about strawberries. First, their shelf life. It doesn’t matter where I get them King Soopers or Whole Foods, either way, they only last a few days. Typically this isn’t a probably since they go like hotcakes in our house BUT when they are on sale I always stalk up. The ones that start to look bad I throw in a Ziplock bag and toss them in the freezer making a reserve for smoothies later. Which is always delicious as a breakfast or afternoon snack. The second thing I dislike about strawberries is that every time I attempt to grow them they either A) die or B) get eaten by the squirrels. I seriously want to grow them, I do but it just isn’t my talent. So I will leave that up to my green thumb friends and try to bribe them with homemade bread to get some.
Since the summer weather is here already in Colorado {80 degrees this past week, which is hot for us this time of year} it inspired me to share some drool worthy and fantastically refreshing strawberry recipes and people, can’t wait to make them all.
