With a few simple ingredients & just 10 minutes, you’re ready to make Best Ever Hot Fudge Sauce. Once you make this, you will never buy store bought again.
Every one of my birthday celebrations is not complete without serving this Best Ever Hot Fudge Sauce. Growing up I used to hate, literally hate birthdays. I counted down the minutes until I was a year older.
Telling my mom this is my last lunch as a 9-year-old or this is my last time to brush my teeth as an 11-year-old. I dwelled on every little minute. But I always seemed to manage to make my birthday literally last a week. My family still jokes about it to this day. I have a couple of kids who are the same way so it makes me giggle.
It wasn’t until I became a mom that I began to truly appreciate birthdays. Watching my 5 kids grow up is the happiest, yet saddest thing for me. I love them reaching all their milestones and creating long, lasting fantastic memories but it makes me a little bit sad because it seems to go by all too fast.
This year, like every year I will be drenching my mom’s Oreo Ice Cream Cake with hot fudge sauce. So grateful for my friend Anna at Crunchy, Creamy, Sweet for this hot fudge sauce recipe, it’s our favorite.
In addition to ice cream cake and hot fudge sauce, we will be going to my favorite Mexican food place here in FoCo and being with my family. There is nothing better than Mexican food and ice cream drenched in hot fudge.
Reflecting on this last year, I am overwhelmed with love and gratitude, so instead of dwelling on the year that went by too quickly. Today I will be sharing what I am grateful for.
I am grateful to my parents, for letting my not so little family of 7 move into my childhood home with them while our house was being built. We thought what would only be 4-months turned into 8-months due to construction delays. I am grateful for how amazing this time has been with them and the memories they have created for my children and the love that they have shown me.
I am grateful that I am married to my best friend, the man of my dreams, my rock, my everything. He has loved me through it all, always seeing the best in me, even if I can’t see it and cheering me on along the way. Jacob, I love you.
I am grateful for my 5 beautiful kids. Their sweet spirits, kind hearts, and energy that keeps me going.
I am grateful that I get to do what I love. Staying home and taking care of our children, while nurturing other people’s kids during the day, while their parents are at work and of course my blog. I am grateful to my friend, Sarah who encouraged me to start my blog and eat until my heart is content.
I am grateful for my family, especially my sisters, who are my best friends, running partners and reality checkers. I can always call or text them my random thoughts and there is nothing but love and ton of laughter.
I am grateful for my friends. Especially all of my new friends that I have met in this crazy blogging world. You have been there for me in ups and downs. Mentored me and helped me see that there is something amazing out there. There are too many to mention, but you know who you are.
I am grateful that I am moving into a home that my husband and I created. That we get to constantly work to build our dreams.
I am grateful to have had another year on this amazing, beautiful earth.
And while there are many other things that I am grateful for and the list could go on and on. I am going to end with that I am grateful for this Best Ever Hot Fudge Sauce. It is everything I could ask for and more in a dessert.
Cheers friends, to birthdays, celebrations and hot fudge.
XOXO San
How do you make Best Ever Hot Fudge Sauce?
In a small mixing bowl stir together brown sugar and cocoa powder, set aside.
In a medium saucepan, over medium heat, add butter and milk, bring to a slow boil, and let it bubble for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add cocoa and brown sugar mixture, stirring constantly and cook for 2-3 minutes and sauce is smooth.
Immediately remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Set aside to cool, to room temp. The sauce during this time will thicken.
Serve with anything or eat straight from the jar, I have done both.

Hot fudge is so amazing!
Yes it is! Enjoy!
Should I store it in the fridge?
Hi Ann! Yes, it should be stored in an airtight container in the fridge. It will thicken, but when you’re ready to use it, just pop some in a bowl and microwave for about 10 seconds until it’s hot and smooth again. Enjoy!
Happy Birthday! Hot fudge is a great way to celebrate! This looks absolutely scrumptious!

My opinion is it wasn’t the “Best Ever Hot Fudge Sauce” recipe. It wasn’t bad and I was disappointed that the recipe said serving size is 6 but my guess is 2 at best. Guess I like more sauce than the average person. I would probably make it again if needed. I’m just giving my honest opinion. Thank you for sharing your recipe.
